Mohammad Torki, Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M University, won first place in the Doctoral-Mathematics poster category at The Texas A&M University System 12th Annual Pathways Student Research Symposium held at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in October of last year.
Torki’s poster, “A unified criterion for void coalescence under combined tension and shear,” was co-authored by Dr. Amine Benzerga and Dr. Jean-Baptiste Leblond. Benzerga, professor in aerospace engineering, is Torki’s adviser and mentor.
The symposium was open to all students in the Texas A&M University System, with separate categories for undergraduate, master's and doctoral level research. The purpose of the annual symposium is to provide an opportunity for students to present research in a poster or oral format while interacting and discussing the research with faculty, judges and other participants. It also provides the participants with a broader exposure to the Texas A&M System community.
