M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. Amarnath Banerjee the Corrie and Jim Furber ’64 Faculty Fellow in Industrial and Systems Engineering in recognition of his accomplishments and future potential. The endowed faculty fellowship was effective Jan. 1.
Banerjee is an associate professor in industrial and systems engineering. He joined the Texas A&M engineering faculty in September 1999. Banerjee received his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani, India, and his Ph.D. in industrial engineering and operations research from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
His research interests are in modeling, simulation and visualization and their applications. He directs the Virtual Manufacturing and Augmented Reality Laboratory
Banerjee teaches courses in simulation, health care systems, virtual manufacturing, manufacturing and production systems design and control, and facilities planning.
