Dr. Walter W. Buchanan, professor in the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution at Texas A&M University, has been awarded the 2016 IEEE Educational Activities Board Meritorious Achievement Award in Accreditation Activities.
Buchanan was recognized by the IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) for leadership in accreditation activities that inspire professional career paths for graduates of engineering technology programs and the impact on accreditation processes.
The award was established by the IEEE EAB to provide recognition for efforts to foster the maintenance and improvement of education through the process of accreditation of engineering, engineering technology, computer science and applied science programs.
Buchanan will receive the award at the 2016 IEEE EAB Award Presentation Ceremony during the IEEE Meeting Series in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in November.
Buchanan joined the Texas A&M faculty in 2005. He received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics/languages and his Juris Doctor, both from Indiana University, his Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Master of Science in Engineering from Purdue University, and his Ph.D. from Indiana University .
