The Department of Ocean Engineering at Texas A&M University hosted its first scholarship banquet recently at the Hilton College Station and Conference Center.
Charlie Donaway, senior academic advisor, welcomed the faculty, staff, students and industry guests in attendance and Dr. Sharath Girimaji, department head and holder of Wofford Cain Chair, delivered the opening remarks congratulating the scholarship recipients and thanking the scholarship donors.
Dr. Robert Randall, W.H. Bauer Professor in Dredging Engineering, introduced Scott Hindes, president of the Barrett and Margaret Hindes Foundation; Amy Coates ’93, student liaison for the Marine Technology Society (Houston Section); Bill Kinney ’76, principal consultant at Kinney Consulting; Evan Zimmerman ’98, vice president and CEO of Deep Sea Mooring AS; Mike Ellis ’96, vice president of Oceaneering; and the award recipients. Ellis was invited to deliver the evening’s keynote address.
Randall and Dr. Jeffrey Falzarano, professor in ocean engineering, presented the scholarship certificates to more than 50 outstanding undergraduate and graduate students who excelled in their academic and research performance during 2015-16.
