The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) has awarded Dr. Arun Srinivasa with the 2018 Archie Higdon Distinguished Educator Award.
The honor highlights Srinivasa’s distinguished and outstanding contributions to engineering mechanics education through his work to revitalize the introductory sophomore classes by introducing project-based learning and active learning strategies.
“I have been working on these aspects for more than a decade, and this award is a recognition of Texas A&M University’s commitment and leadership in developing advanced pedagogy in engineering education,” said Srinivasa, a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. “As an academic in the area of mechanics, it is a very gratifying and humbling experience to be recognized by my peers throughout the U.S. for my efforts in improving mechanics education and highlighting its relevance to the current practice of engineering.”
Srinivasa received the award in June during the ASEE Mechanics Banquet at the society’s 125th annual conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
