Cindy and Gary Allison recently created the Gary Allison ’87 Family Endowed Scholarship for Computer Science to assist in recruiting top academic freshmen to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University.
Gary Allison said he and his wife wanted to create the scholarship so that other students could experience the same impact that he did at Texas A&M.
“I feel deep gratitude for all that my time at Texas A&M offered,” he said. “Professors like Dr. Bart Childs and others made a profound impact on me well beyond the computer science curriculum. Both the program and Texas A&M University gave me the opportunity to grow technical, business and leadership skills that have helped me achieve success. Allison is currently the executive vice president of engineering at Bazaarvoice, Inc. He has worked in the software industry for 30 years, 16 of which have been in executive leadership positions for companies such as E2Open and Convio.
He earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from Texas A&M, graduating magna cum laude, and a master’s in software engineering from the University of Houston, Clear Lake. Allison is an active member of the department’s advisory council and coaches and mentors startup companies, and research and development leaders in the Austin technology scene. He and Cindy reside in Cedar Park, Texas.
