Texas A&M University’s core values, the Aggie spirit and many meaningful traditions serve as important reminders to Joe and Melanie Gregory of their time as students at Texas A&M. It was in this spirit that they decided to establish the Melanie ‘82 and Joe Gregory ‘82 Scholarship to be used to help fund one or more full-time students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in civil engineering.
“Both of us love the university and being a Texas Aggie is special to us,” said Joe. “Melanie and I met at Texas A&M and that’s another reason we are fond of A&M.”
A graduate of the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering, Joe began his career at Chevron in New Orleans upon graduation. Melanie received her bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Texas A&M and a master’s degree in exercise physiology from the University of Houston.
Joe and Melanie currently reside in the Houston area where Joe serves as president of Chevron’s Project Resources Company.
They hope that by establishing this scholarship, students will have an opportunity to develop their technical and leadership skills in the field of civil engineering. The Gregorys have expressed a preference for students that live in Galveston county, the place that they call home.
“We want to be able to continue supporting Texas A&M, and this endowed scholarship is one way in which we can remain connected to the university and its students,” said Joe.
