Dr. John Whitcomb, professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M University, has been promoted by the American Society for Composites (ASC) to Fellow. A fellow is a distinguished member who has made genuinely outstanding contributions to the composites community through research, practice, education and service.
The ASC is dedicated to the advancement of the science and technology of composite materials and structures. Whitcomb’s research interests include prediction of damage initiation and growth in cryogenic composites and foams, multifunctional materials, mechanics of textile composites, as well as multiscale computational mechanics from nano to macro. His research is actively involved in the damage mechanics of composite materials.
Whitcomb will be presented a plaque and award at the awards banquet of the 34th Annual ASC Technical Conference on September 24.
