Three faculty members have joined the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University with research expertise in areas such as empirical software engineering practices, artificial intelligence and big data systems.

“With the ever-increasing role and impact of computing in society, our field faces significant competition for talent from both industry and academia. We are excited to have such promising faculty join us,” said Dr. Scott Schaefer, head of the department.

The three new faculty members include:

Khanh Nguyen

Dr. Khanh Nguyen, assistant professor, who received his doctoral degree in computer science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in computer science from the University of California, Irvine. Nguyen’s research interests include complier and runtime support, programming languages, memory management and big data systems.

Paul TaeleDr. Paule Taele, instructional assistant professor, who received his doctoral and master’s degrees in computer science from Texas A&M, and his bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and computer science from The University of Texas at Austin. Taele’s research interests include sketch recognition, artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction and intelligent user interfaces.

Pauline WadePauline Wade, associate professor of practice, who received her master’s degree in computer science from Columbia University and her bachelor’s degree in computer science from Texas A&M. Wade’s research interests include empirical software engineering practices, software engineering framework for data science projects and improving the effectiveness of test suites through mining historical data.
