Byron L. Black has established a planned gift to create the Byron Black ’86 Engineering Technology Excellence Endowment. Distributions from this endowment will be used at the discretion of the department head to support the operation and needs of the engineering technology program. Black has also established the Byron Black ’86 Engineering Technology Endowed Scholarship. Distributions from this endowment will be used to provide one or more scholarships to full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering technology at Texas A&M University.
Black graduated from Texas A&M in 1986 with his degree in engineering technology. He said he knew that going to Texas A&M would open doors to a lot of opportunities not only in Texas, but across the south, as well as internationally.
Black decided that splitting his contribution will allow him to continuously support both the administrators of the department as well as the students who choose this discipline. “My main desire is to give back to a program that has given me so much and enabled me to reach both my career goals and financial goals,” he said. “I would like to see the engineering technology program grow and to help others achieve their goals as it allowed me to do. Gig ’em Aggies!”

How to Give
The College of Engineering is one of the leading engineering programs in the United States. Endowments supporting the students and the departments have a direct and immediate impact on the program and the students’ experience. If you are interested in supporting the College of Engineering and its departments or would like more information on how you can give, please contact Hannah Simonds, assistant director of development.
