The Reactor Physics Division (RPD) of the American Nuclear Society selected Dr. Carlo Fiorina as a recipient of the 2023 Early Career Reactor Physicist Award. The honor recognizes members of the RPD who have made major contributions to the field of reactor physics during the early stages of their careers.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Early Career Reactor Physicist Award,” said Fiorina, an associate professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M University[KS1] . “This recognition holds profound meaning for me. It represents the culmination of years of dedicated work, passion and commitment to advancing the field of reactor physics.”
As part of the award, Fiorina served as a lecturer at the 2023 ANS Annual Meeting, where he presented his work developing nuclear multiphysics modeling tools.
This is a momentous occasion for Dr. Fiorina and we are proud of him for the outstanding accomplishment. We look forward to all he will continue to do and the success he will have in our department.
In the future, Fiorina hopes to develop innovative solutions to aid in deploying advanced nuclear reactors to help with the fight against climate change and environmental pollution.
“I am grateful for this recognition,” Fiorina said. “It encourages me to continue pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved through modeling and simulation. This award fuels my motivation and inspires me to mentor and guide aspiring scientists and engineers on their own journeys.”
