In the latest edition of the U.S. News & World Report 2025 Best College Rankings, Texas A&M University's College of Engineering undergraduate engineering program has retained a spot in the top 10 among public engineering schools and secured 16th overall.

The Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering maintained its No. 1 spot in the rankings and the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering increased two spots to No. 1.

“Our consistent ranking in the top 10 public engineering schools is attributed to excellence in delivering a high-quality education at scale while preparing the next generation of engineers to lead in a rapidly changing world," said Dr. Robert H. Bishop, vice chancellor and dean of engineering and director of the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station. "These rankings underscore the dedication of our faculty, staff and students in advancing engineering education and research."

Six departments from the College of Engineering were ranked in the top 10 of public institutions. These are the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering (1), the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering (1), which is part of both the College of Engineering and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M, the Department of Aerospace Engineering (8), the J. Mike Walker ’66 Department of Mechanical Engineering (7), the Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (7), and the Wm Michael Barnes ’64 Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (7).

Computer science (16), which falls in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering (12), the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (12), and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (11) were also ranked in the top 20 of public universities.
