Ken Sheblak ’88 was more than an accomplished engineer — he was a genuine and dedicated man who challenged himself to encourage and uplift those around him. Known for his compassion, good humor, hard work and kindness, Ken had a way of making each person feel valued and loved. His legacy is not only in his professional achievements but in the lives he touched and the kindness he spread wherever he went.

Now, Ken’s impact will live in perpetuity through the Ken Sheblak ’88 Memorial Endowed Scholarship.

“To know him was to love and appreciate someone who was just a good person to their core. He was never too busy to stop what he was doing to help, explain or just be a friend...that's just who he was,” said Steven Ward, a longtime friend of Ken. “He elevated those around him and always gave the credit to others.”

Inspired by Ken’s care for others, Steven Ward ’00, Ryan Getz ’00 and their colleagues at WGA Consulting Engineers have come together to honor his memory in a meaningful way. They have established an endowed scholarship in Ken’s name to celebrate his legacy of kindness and commitment.

This scholarship will commemorate Ken’s impact on those around him and extend his spirit of generosity by supporting future generations of Aggie civil engineering students. Through this lasting tribute, Ken’s dedication to uplifting others will continue to inspire and empower students for years to come.

“I hope this gift finds deserving students that emulate Ken's spirit and ambition, and they are able to achieve their own version of his success and impact on others,” Steven said.

Aggies helping and inspiring Aggies is the oldest story in the book, but it is no less impactful each time it is told. Ken Sheblak’s legacy will impact students for many years, thanks to those who were impacted and acted upon their love for a friend.
