Below are some of the benefits that students will enjoy in the Texas A&M Engineering Academies:
Supportive Learning Environment
- Students will be co-enrolled at Texas A&M University and one of our partner colleges. Engineering students in the Engineering Academies enroll in one engineering course through Texas A&M each semester. These courses are taught by Texas A&M faculty at the partner college campus.
- Mathematics and science courses — which build the foundation for engineering skills — have smaller student-faculty ratios, allowing students to connect more closely with their professors. All other core curriculum courses can be taken through the partner college.
Affordable and Convenient Degree Pathway
- Students enjoy substantial financial savings. Students in the Engineering Academies are charged tuition and fees by the institution through which each course is registered. Texas A&M coursework is registered in absentia, which allows for a deduction in fees for services not used by students enrolled in a course conducted away from the Texas A&M campus in College Station.
- Students will have opportunities to participate in and benefit from student activities, organizations and resources at both institutions to the fullest extent possible.
Guaranteed Enrollment at Texas A&M University
- Students benefit from career exploration opportunities as they go through the Texas A&M general engineering curriculum.
- Students who complete required coursework and maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) at the partner college and at least a 2.0 CGPA at Texas A&M are guaranteed placement into one of the 22 engineering majors through the Entry-to-a-Major process.
- Students are eligible for guaranteed placement into one of their top-choice engineering majors upon completion of automatic entry requirements.
