- AERO students must take courses listed on their degree plan each semester. Failure to take courses toward your declared degree violates TAMU policy (Student Rule 1.5.1).
- Be aware of prerequisites. Courses must be taken in proper sequence (see degree plan/catalog)
- A "C" or better must be earned in all prerequisite courses, AERO courses, and core curriculum communication courses.
- Any student found registered for improper coursework 3 days after grades are posted will be blocked from preregistration for the following preregistration period.
- *A course may not be attempted more than two times. Q-dropping or withdrawing from a course will count as one attempt. Students attempting a course for a second time will be placed on departmental probation. If a required course on the Aerospace Degree plan is not passed with a "C" or better after the second attempt, the student is no longer eligible to continue as an Aerospace major. Students who are dismissed due to that policy will be allowed to appeal the decision, describe any extenuating circumstances that explain their lack of performance, and apply for an opportunity to repeat the course for a third time in the future.
- Students with a semester GPA< 2.0 or an overall GPA< 2.0 are on Academic Probation. If the overall GPA has a net deficit of> 23 grade points (GP) for U1,>17 GP for U2, > 13 GP for U3, and> 9 for U4 below a 2.00, then a student is suspended from TAMU.
- Students who earn a semester GPA below 2.5 will be required to complete an Individual Success Program with the Academic Success Center the following semester.
- Preregistration is a privilege. AERO will block students from preregistration who are struggling (midterm D or F, academic probation, etc.) or for failure to attend mandatory Town Halls, advising meetings, or abide by deadlines. A preregistration hold will be placed on those students who do not complete the Mandatory Assessment of the AERO program.
- Once you are enrolled in a course past the Q-drop deadline, AP credit can no longer be applied to that course, regardless of the outcome of the course.
- Three hours of co-op (ENGR 385) credit will count for one three-hour technical elective course. (Each tour of co-op is worth one hour of ENGR 385 credit.)Less than three hours will not qualify you to receive technical elective credit. Prerequisite to ENGR 385 is AERO 201.
- Students are allowed to take a maximum of two consecutive co-ops. Such continuous co-op sequences must include a short (Summer) semester, i.e., students may participate in continuous co-ops during Spring-Summer or Summer-Fall sequences only. Students may not participate in co-ops during consecutive Spring-Fall or Fall-Spring semesters.
- Three hours of pre-approved honors research credit (AERO 485/491) will count for one three-hour technical elective course. Less than three hours will not qualify you to receive technical elective credit.
- It is understood and expected that students will be working toward a degree in Aerospace Engineering. It is the student’s responsibility to understand the degree requirements along with deadlines, policies, and procedures of the university, college, and department.
- Students will assume accountability for all emails they receive from the university, college, and departmental advisors; for all information listed in the degree plan packet, and for all the above stated.
- Students will adhere to the Aggie Code of Honor and AERO Code of Conduct.
