Application Requirements

Students interested in Texas A&M University's Master of Engineering in engineering for transportation professionals degree must meet the following requirements for admission consideration:

• Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in an engineering discipline.
  • Leveling courses required for students with a non-ABET bachelor's degree in engineering. These leveling courses are in addition to those fulfilling a student's Master of Engineering in engineering degree plan. Some example leveling courses include differential equations, particle statics and dynamics, and design courses.
• Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 for an undergraduate degree and 3.0 at the graduate level.
• At least four years of professional experience beyond the bachelor's degree in engineering. This does not include time in graduate school.
• Registration as a professional engineer is preferred.

Required Application Documents

Documents required are:

• A personal statement - In this two-page essay, please describe why you want to pursue graduate studies in interdisciplinary engineering, focusing on the Master of Engineering degree for transportation specialists and why you feel that Texas A&M University is the right place for your graduate studies. Include your academic background and your relevant professional experience in this area. Also, discuss how this degree will help you in your management career. Submit your statement of purpose through the online application system.
• Three letters of recommendation from professors or employers - It is preferred that these letters come from faculty or employers (supervisors) who have been involved with the student's most advanced levels of academic education or professional activity. One of the letters must be from the professional supervisor who is willing to serve as a mentor for the capstone project. These letters should assess the applicant's potential for success in this transportation management program. Do not include letters from family friends or other non-technical referees who cannot fairly assess your abilities.
• Your resumé
• Unofficial transcripts from all previously attended college institutions (official transcripts will be required if you are admitted).

Please note that a GRE exam is not required for application to this program.

How to Apply

All external applicants should apply to the MEng in Engineering through EngineeringCAS. Once in the application, you will choose your specialty (i.e., transportation professionals, subsea).
