Requirements
- You must include a minimum of 32 credit hours in your degree plan. Additional hours may be added at either your or your advisory committee’s discretion.
- Take at least three of the core courses (required for students without a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering).
- You may take up to two courses from outside of the department if advised by the chair of your committee
- Take three hours of PETE 692 for credit for the engineering project
- You must observe University limits on certain courses:
- No more than nine hours of transfer credit from another peer department/ university.
- No more than 12 hours of 689 courses.
- Undergraduate courses only with pre-approval of Graduate Advisor.
- You must select the chairman of your committee before the start of the second semester.
- Agree on at least three committee members, with one outside the department.
- File a degree plan before the beginning of your second semester but by no means later than 90 days before your final oral examination.
- You must have an average GPR of 3.0 for all courses on your degree plan before you take the final exam.
- You must write your independent project (PETE 692 as a professional journal paper) reports involving Petroleum Engineering subject matter and complete your final exam
- You must complete all degree requirements within seven years.
